Personal Fitness Training -- : Aug 17 - Dec 11 2020
Due to the Petaluma campus gym being closed for fall term, students will complete participation hours using a variety of options including: instructor led videos, regularly scheduled workouts live via Zoom, self-paced written workout routines with 1 on 1 online fitness coaching by SRJC personal training certificate students. 1 unit class requires 35 hours of participation.

I have been teaching at SRJC for 12 years. Before SRJC, I taught Health Education and Exercise Science at a community college in San Diego. I have a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology (emphasis Fitness, Nutrition, and Health) and a Master's degree in Exercise Physiology (emphasis in Public Health) from San Diego State University. I am certified through ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) as an Exercise Physiologist. I am also a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher. I grew up with a passion for dance and started teaching dance at an early age. I've taught group exercise classes since high school and was a personal trainer throughout college and beyond. Currently, my teaching schedule each term includes a variety of fitness based classes (such as Mat Pilates, Yoga, Body Conditioning, Weight Training, Cardio Kickboxing, or Boot Camp) and lecture classes such as Principles of Health and Wellness, Introduction to Kinesiology, Yoga Teaching Methodology, and Techniques of Fitness Instruction. I am the coordinator for the Certificate program in Fitness, Nutrition, and Health for students wanting to become fitness instructors or personal trainers (https://kad.santarosa.edu/fitnesscertificate) and oversee the Kinesiology program at the Petaluma Campus. I currently serve as the Faculty Coordinator for Professional Development and as a represenative for the Academic Senate at SRJC.
