- My goal is to link classroom learning with on-the-job experiences, providing students with 21st century skills, also known as "soft skills", as well as, employment skills, career knowledge, and the ability to set goals and assess work-related learning outcomes.
- Work Experience courses provide work-based learning opportunities and transferable college credit.
- Because students work in virtually every type of business and organization, I work one-on-one with students in my office and at their job sites to create and evaluate performance on work-based learning objectives.

While meeting with my Work Experience Education students, I coach and mentor them in their educational and career goals. I encourage students to consider including skills from the SCANS* Workplace Competencies and Foundation Skills (now referred to as soft skills or employability skills) in their work experience goals which enhance students’ employability and professional growth.
While there is some controversy over the use of artificial intelligence (AI), employers want their staff to know how to use AI effectively and efficiently. So, when I meet with my students, I discuss ways in which they can use AI to assist them in completing their WorkExperience Education assignments.
