Work and Consulting Experience

Before entering teaching full time, I worked as a legal secretary, paralegal, and law office manager in Sonoma, Marin and San Francisco Counties.

    Professional Involvement and Community Service

Volunteer Mentor through Petaluma Mentor Me Program

For several years as a full-time faculty member, I also taught in the Work Experience Education Department as well. While my assignments were mostly with interns, I was also assigned occupational and general students working in Sonoma, Marin, and San Francisco Counties.

In addition to helping students create cover letters and resumes, I have coached and mentored students in their educational and career goals. I encouraged students to consider including skills from the SCANS* Workplace Competencies and Foundation Skills (now referred to as soft skills or employability skills) in their work experience goals. By incorporating soft skills instruction in my lecture courses, I was able to develop a deep understanding of how these skills enhance students’ employability and professional growth.
