TESOL Certificate, UC Berkeley Extension

B.A. in English with an emphasis in linguistics, San Francisco State University

Though I was an English major in college, teaching English has been a career change for me. After attending a small cooking school in San Francisco, I spent many years teaching cooking classes and running a small farm before returning to school for my master's degree. While my earlier career was incredibly enjoyable, I truly couldn't be happier in this chapter of my life as an English teacher, and I feel so fortunate to be part of my students' journeys.

I have taught ESL and Winery English classes for Jackson Family Wines, and currently also teach ESL at the College of Marin and College Writing at the Culinary Institute of America.

In my free time I love to bake, work in the vegetable garden, spend time with my husband and two daughters, and walk our Welsh Corgi Winston.

Professional Areas of Interest

My professional interests focus on content-based instruction, particularly in the context of vocational growth, and how it enhances student engagement. I'm also interested in Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and how these approaches can create more inclusive and effective learning environments for all students.
