Over the years I__ve worked as a professional director, actor, playwright and dramaturge, and I've had the opportunity to work with respected theatres including Seattle Children's Theatre, Cleveland Playhouse, and Kansas City__s Coterie Theatre. Closer to home, I've performed with both 6th Street Playhouse and Sonoma County Rep. I'm also an SRT alumna, performing in the acting company in 1989 and 2000.
However, my primary focus has been teaching folks like you. I've been teaching and directing here at SRJC since 1999. Before coming to SRJC, I taught at University of Central Missouri for five years where I was the Performance Specialist for the Theatre Department.
I have about ten years of training in stage combat and can swing a mean broadsword when I want to! In fact, I'm an Associate Instructor for Dueling Arts International and sometimes choreograph fights for department productions. I direct one show a year for our department and am thrilled to direct the musical fantasy Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka this fall. Recent productions include Grease, The Miracle Worker, and Pride and Prejudice (which I directed after spending the fall teaching in London with the Study Abroad program...an incredible experience I highly recommend!)
On the personal front, I am a third-generation California native and consider South Lake Tahoe my hometown (Go Vikings)! While doing my undergraduate work at U.C. Davis, I was a yell leader and the announcer for the marching band (Go Ags!) I married to a man who LOVES basketball so I watch a lot myself. I love to sing and am rather fond of my two...um...unique cats. Lastly, I am a breast cancer survivor (over 11 years in the clear, yippee) and very grateful to be working in this beautiful place!
