I've been very fortunate to meet many excellent teachers of mathematics in my life, and one of them was my calculus teacher at Granada Hills High School in San Fernando Valley area in Southern California. Learning calculus from him opened my eyes not only to the beauty of mathematics, but also to the way one could present the subject in such an exciting way to get young students hooked on math. This was the time when I started envisioning myself as a math teacher.
After graduating from high school in Southern California, I moved up north to attend college at UC Berkeley, where I earned my bachelor's degree in mathematics. Then I went down south again to study mathematics at the graduate level at Claremont Graduate University and UC Irvine. I taught mathematics as an adjunct instructor at Chaffey College and Cypress College in Southern California. Now I have relocated to Sonoma County, where I've started my 13th year of full-time teaching here at SRJC.
