I find great joy to be a part of SRJC. I work amidst inspiring administrators, faculty and staff who have a vision to support students now and for the future. Research shows that the more someone feels like they belong, the more successful they will be. My goal is to create an engaging environment so new, returning and continuing students will find encouragement and direction while pursuing their chosen educational and career goals.
As of 3/23/20, I am working remotely and available Monday - Friday, from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm by appointment.
B.A. Sociology, San Francisco State University
Certificate in Human Resource Administration, Santa Rosa Junior College
Prior to gaining successful, full-time employment at Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC), Hilleary was a CalWORKs student. The community college CalWORKs program helped her meet her personal and professional goals because one of the purposes of CalWORKs is to promote self-sufficiency through education.
Hilleary earned a BA degree from San Francisco State University in Sociology and a certificate in Human Resources Administration from Santa Rosa Junior College. She also has received several honors including a GEM (Goes the Extra Mile) Award from her peer colleagues, and a Certificate of Excellence for her contributions to Local 1021 SEIU (Service Employees International Union).
Hilleary currently works closely with college students and has oversight with student government, student clubs, events & activities and student grievances. Currently, she serves as the Latinx Facutly Staff Association (LFSA) Vice President with the goal to promote social and cultural dimensions of Latinx history, heritage and culture as it relates to education. She also successfully completed and is a presenter for the Rise Up Now (RUN) Forum offered in Sonoma County since 2012. The RUN Forum brings together elected officials, high school and college students to become more civically engaged in their communities. Additionally, Hilleary served two terms as the SEIU Local 1021 SRJC Chapter President which represents over 430 employees at a community college. She consistently worked on ways to make the workplace safe and secure, while promoting fair salary and benefits for all employees.
Hilleary has participated in numerous volunteer activities including serving as PTA (Parent Teacher Association) Treasurer at her son’s school and working with the City of Santa Rosa to maintain the grounds of a local park. In 2011-12 she received a CAB (Community Action Board) grant from the City of Santa Rosa to transform a local park ball wall into an art mural. In August 2013 she earned the Mighty Peacock Award which is recognition from the City of Santa Rosa for residents who have gone above and beyond the expectations of being a good neighbor by serving others, beautifying a neighborhood, or strengthening our community.
Reading has always been a part of her life. A treasured memory is when as an elementary school student, she would compete in the summer library program in Solano County and earned free prizes. The most sought after prize was 2 tickets to the Oakland A’s game of which she received many tickets and always took her grandfather to see a game. Her personal library includes The Slight Edge; In a Different Voice; Bless Me, Ultima; The Art of War for Women; Five Love Languages; and Yes, Please.
