Debbe-Ann's educational background began as a student at SRJC. Her Master's of Arts degree was received from SSU in Physical Education (Kinesiology), with special studies in Exercise Physiology.
Debbe-Ann is the proud mother of three children. Denelle, who was tragically killed in a plane crash in 1986 at the age of 2 1/2, Christopher, born in 1989, is Deputy in Santa Cruz County, a Hip Hop dancer, an avid surfer and a graduate from the Army and Navy Academy, and Raquel was born in 1991, and is a graduate from the World Arts and Cultures/Dance Department at UCLA.
Interestingly, Ms. Medina has an unusual hobby: she is a champion barefoot water skier at regional and national level and she participated in the 2003 Senior World Championships.
Over the years Debbe-Ann has mentored a number of SRJC students watching their progress evolve from budding novices to confident, accomplished artists. She takes great pride and joy in the success and determination of her all students, regardless of activity and skill level.
Debbe-Ann is a strong educator with a terrific sense of humor. She expects as much from her students in class as she demands of herself.
In 2008 Debbe-Ann was voted Dance Educator the the Year for the state of California by SCOPE. She is also a competitive barefoot waterski champion. Having won both Regional and National Overall Women IV titles, she is also a National record holder, and participated in the Senior World Barefoot Championships in 2003. Debbe-Ann was also a competitive bodybuilder, receiving the title NPC Ms. Sonoma County two times, and Ms. AAU Northern California.
