Miss Weichel earned her MM degree with emphasis in instrumental conducting from California State University, Sacramento. She received her BA in Music from Sonoma State University in addition to a teaching credential.
Cynthia Weichel brings more than 30 years of expertise as an educator, orchestra manager, music conductor, and professional musician.
At Santa Rosa Junior College she teaches Music History, Music Appreciation, Applied Music (violin), and has also taught Music Fundamentals and was the conductor of the Orchestra for 13 years. In addition, through Community Education, she has taught Chamber Music, and is the Founder/Conductor of the North Bay Sinfonietta and the Symphonic Reading Orchestra.
Miss Weichel was the Manager of the Santa Rosa Symphony Youth Orchestras for 13 years, held the position of Operations/Education Director with the California Symphony for 2 years, and the Director of Education with the Santa Rosa Symphony for 4 years. She was also the Manager of the Santa Rosa Children’s Chorus.
Cynthia has taught and coached music and violin for Forestville Union School, Santa Rosa Symphony’s Summer Music Academy, Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts, Sebastopol Charter School, and at the summer Mariachi Camp through the Luther Burbank Center.
As a professional violinist, Miss Weichel has been a member of the Santa Rosa Symphony, performed with the Marin and Vallejo Symphony Orchestras, and was a member of the Napa Valley Symphony for over 20 years where she also served as Music Librarian.
