Prof. Mangahas regularly teaches an Introduction to Excel course for business students both in person and online / hybrid. In addition, she has enjoyed working with students in Introduction to Business and Entrepreneurship courses.
Professor Crystal Mangahas began her career in marketing research, investigating the efficacy of direct to consumer advertising for pharmaceutical products. She then attended the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University and upon receiving her MBA, joined the management consulting firm, Kurt Salmon Associates where she was promoted from consultant to manager. After KSA, Ms. Mangahas worked as the Director of Brand for Birkenstock USA and as the Director of Direct Sourcing for The Men's Wearhouse. She then went on to do independent consulting as well as joining the board for WhenILeave.com. In 2012, Ms. Mangahas moved into the non-profit sector serving in multiple capacities at a Montessori school, including Associate Director and President of the Board of Directors. She is now enjoying her career in the classroom, teaching and learning from the students of Santa Rosa Junior College.
Professor Mangahas has extensive strategic and operations management experience for companies in the consumer products and retail industry. Clients have included The Gap, Banana Republic, Ulta, PacSun, Macy's and many others. In addition, Ms. Mangahas has over a decade of experience in not-for-profit administration including serving on the Board of Directors.
Prof. Mangahas is interested in expanding access to higher education for all students using a variety of modes, media and models that can accommodate all types of learning styles.
She is also interested in entrepreneurship, the retail industry and the elimination of waste in all steps of the design, production and consumption processes.
Ms. Mangahas routinely volunteers for local food banks such as the Redwood Empire Food Bank and Food For Thought, as well as for The Thrifty Goat, a thrift shop supporting the animal rescue and sanctuary organization, Goatlandia.
