Brett Rhodes, J.D., M.P.A., M.L.S.

Brett Rhodes is the founding attorney of Rhodes Law, a Sonoma County-based estate planning practice serving individuals and families throughout California.  He is licensed to practice law in California, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the United States Supreme Court.

In 2025, Brett was voted “Best Attorney” in the Press Democrat’s Best of Sonoma County Readers’ Choice Awards—a testament to the community’s trust in his integrity, professionalism, and dedication to client service.

He has also been recognized by Super Lawyers as a Northern California Rising Star in both 2024 and 2025—an honor awarded to no more than 2.5% of attorneys who demonstrate excellence in their legal practice.

His academic credentials include a Juris Doctor (J.D.), Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.), Master of Legal Studies (M.L.S.), and a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration.  He is also a graduate of the Dominican University Leadership Program and the National Association of Counties (NACo) High Performance Leadership Academy.

In addition to his legal practice, Brett brings over 20 years of experience in public service, having served in multiple law enforcement roles, including officer, Field Training Officer (FTO), training manager, detective, sergeant, and ultimately Chief of Police for a federally commissioned law enforcement agency.  He is a graduate of the FBI-LEEDA Command Institute for Law Enforcement Executives and has completed all phases of the California P.O.S.T. Advanced Instructor Development Institute (IDI) Leadership and Mentoring for Instructors programs.

Brett is a seasoned educator and public speaker with a focus on public administration, leadership, and legal affairs.  A lifelong resident of Sonoma County, he remains actively involved in community initiatives and continues to champion conversations that strengthen civic engagement and professional development.
