Beverly Munson retired from her full-time Human Resources and Payroll Management career in 2007. Her most recent position was with Hawaiian Telcom (HT) in Honolulu, Hawaii where she was Sr. Manager of Compensation & Benefits. Her responsibilities included managing the HR Service Center, non-exempt staffing, benefits, compensation, and leave management programs for both union and non-union employees. During her tenure with HT Ms. Munson was designated as Hawaiian Telcom's HR expert testifying before the Hawaii State Legislature on matters pertaining to employment and labor relations.

Before moving to Hawaii, Ms. Munson held a variety of Executive level positions in Human Resources, and also was Founder and Principal of M&M HR Contracting (formerly Human Resources Contracting Services), a full-service human resources consulting and outsourcing practice.

Ms. Munson's experience encompasses launching and leading the Human Resources function in the Banking, Distribution/Warehousing, Software, Internet, Healthcare, and Telecommunications industries. As a consultant she worked with organizations in the private, not-for-profit, and public sectors.

In her various positions, Ms. Munson has been responsible for directing all functions within the Human Resources profession, directing HR department operations, managing the payroll function, and setting policy and implementing programs in both union and non-union work environments. This includes working with companies with multi-state and international operations.

While a consultant, Ms. Munson was under contract with the Council on Education in Management (CEM). During her affiliation with CEM, Ms. Munson conducted employment law and human resources management seminars throughout the United States and Canada, training approximately 1,000 HR and Payroll professionals annually. Ms. Munson also wrote several books on Human Resources, Payroll, Wage & Hour Law, and Employment Law topics for CEM's publishing division.

In addition to th experience outlined above, Ms. Munson was retained as an expert witness testifying in deposition and at trial on matters pertaining to discrimination, harassment, and wrongful termination.

Working together, Ms. Munson and her husband, Lee, also an SRJC instructor launched the Human Resources Certificate Program. She has been an instructor at SRJC since 1981, teaching both in the Work Experience and Business Administration departments. She currently teach HR 64 (Salary Administration) and HR 74 (Payroll -- online).

Previously, Ms. Munson taught in the Master's in Business Administration (MBA) Program at Golden Gate University (San Francisco) and undergraduate courses at Hawii Pacific University (Honolulu).

Ms. Munson holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Fresno State University and a Master of Science Degree in Counseling from San Francisco State University. She achieved the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) designation through the HR Certification Institute.

Beverly M. Munson is an adjunct instructor teaching weekend and online classes in the Human Resources Certificate program. Ms. Munson does not have an office on campus, or a telephone number.
